VOLUNTEER. Sonya Scheurer won the 2023-2024 Alain Courtois prize during the Parrainage Académie event, organized by Parrainage Civic Drummond.

The Alain Courtois prize is awarded each year to a person who makes themselves available as soon as the organization offers them an activity and they are not working. Ms. Scheurer is very involved during one-day pairings.

In addition, she regularly “enrolls” members of her family to complete the team of godparents for a day, as underlined by the general director of Parrainage Civic Drummond, Michel Gouin. “She shows great openness and trusts us when choosing a goddaughter for one day. And without a doubt, we know that our “different person” will be in good hands with our volunteer of the year,” he expressed in a press release.

Ms. Scheurer will complete a third two-year term in June 2025 on the board of directors, most of which will serve as secretary-treasurer.

The Alain Courtois Prize is recognition given to a volunteer who has stood out over the past year at Parrainage Civic Drummond. The name comes from volunteer Alain Courtois, involved for many years and who formed the oldest twinning in Quebec with his godson Julien, until his death.
