The gloomy temperature this morning did not prevent the population of Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean from participating in the three commemorative ceremonies surrounding Remembrance Day at three locations in the region. It was the first time in 20 years that the soldiers of the Bagotville Base gathered outside its walls, in addition to parading in the streets, to the great pleasure of the spectators present.
In Chicoutimi, it was under a light rain that the soldiers, legionnaires and Veterans, headed, at a steady pace, towards Place du Citoyen, after a departure from Branch 235 of Chicoutimi. Once at the stop on Racine Street, it was in front of City Hall that the protocol ceremony began.
The commander of the Bagotville Base, Colonel Phillip Rennison, is delighted to make the 3rd Wing shine in such circumstances.
For its part, Arvida Branch 209 also had its parade through the streets, ending in front of the Saguenay police headquarters. The president of the Arvida Legion, Mr. Jerry Harvey, said he was more than delighted with the participation of the members of the Wing, but also surprised by the presence of many citizens at the ceremony.
