The Playoffs are starting! Genève-Servette travels to Lausanne for its round of 16 of the Champions Hockey League. The Eagles face Lausanne HC this Tuesday for the first leg, while the return match will be played at Les Vernets on Wednesday, November 20.
It’s a round of 16 with the flavor of the Lake Geneva derby that the CHL is offering us this season. Indeed, Genève-Servette faces Lausanne HC at this stage of the competition. A beautiful poster that will delight the supporters, but also the players! We know that these derbies are electric, no matter the competition in which they are played. The first leg will be played in Lausanne this Tuesday and the return will take place at Les Vernets next Wednesday, November 20. Tickets for this meeting are already available HERE!
Lausanne very solid
Whether in the CHL or the National League, Lausanne has had an excellent start to the season. Second in the championship, third in Europe, the Lions are favorites. During the regular season, they won five of their six matches, with resounding victories over Tappara Tampere, Ilves, and Trinec. The Vaudois have the ambition to shine in all competitions and, for the moment, they are succeeding. In the CHL, it is Suomela and Jäger who lead the top scorers, with six points each in six games.
The people of Lausanne stand out above all for their ability to win close matches. Apart from a 7-3 victory against Ilves, the matches were often played one or two goals apart. But each time, it is the Lions who find the solution, displaying a realism that the Eagles have lacked since the start of the season, whether in the National League or the Champions Hockey League. However, the break did them good, allowing a mental “reset” that the Garnets needed. A new season is beginning, and this CHL match against Lausanne is the ideal launching pad for a comeback.
In the CHL, Genève-Servette has the best scorer of the regular season with Michael Spacek! In six games, he scored 12 points, including seven goals. A remarkable performance which allowed the Eagles to qualify for the playoffs. Simon Le Coultre, Sakari Manninen and Sami Vatanen complete the podium with six points each. Oula Palve will make her first steps with her new team on this occasion.
This round of 16 playoff match between Genève-Servette and Lausanne will be played at the Vaudoise Aréna from 7:45 p.m. The meeting will be broadcast live and in full on MySports.
