Summit participants “strongly condemned” the actions of the Israeli army, described as “a crime of genocide (…) particularly in the north of the Gaza Strip in recent weeks”, denouncing torture, executions, disappearances and “ethnic cleansing”, according to the final communiqué of the meeting.
Regional leaders call for 'banning arms transfers to Israel'
The leaders of these countries also pointed out the “attacks” committed by the IDF against the United Nations, particularly in southern Lebanon where the UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) was targeted on several occasions.
They expressed their “condemnation of the continued attacks by the Israeli authorities and their representatives against the UN and its Secretary General”, citing in particular the restrictions imposed on officials trying to access the “territory of the State of Palestine”.
Another point addressed by the leaders meeting in Saudi Arabia, arms transfers to the Jewish state, calling for “prohibiting the export or transfer of arms and ammunition to Israel”. Last October, Emmanuel Macron spoke in favor of stopping deliveries of weapons used by Israel in Gaza, saying “we do not fight against terrorists by sacrificing a population”.
