Prime Minister Gabriel Attal unveiled, Saturday June 15, a set of measures to strengthen the purchasing power of the French in the event of victory of the presidential majority in the next legislative elections. At the top of these proposals, a significant revaluation of the purchasing power bonus.

Tripling of the purchasing power bonus

Gabriel Attal announced that the purchasing power bonus, paid monthly to six million French people, could triple, reaching up to 10,000 euros per year. This bonus would be exempt from charges and taxes for businesses. At the same time, retirees’ pensions would remain indexed to inflation, ensuring protection against price increases.

Reduction in energy bill

In terms of energy, the Prime Minister has promised a 15% reduction in the electricity bill from next winter. This measure aims to reduce the expenses of French households, while responding to growing concerns linked to rising energy costs. In addition, Attal mentioned the creation of complementary health insurance at 1 euro per day for retirees and the self-employed who are not covered, aiming to reduce health costs for these populations.

Additional measures for purchasing power

During an interview with “Parisien” and in the regional press, Gabriel Attal presented other initiatives to support purchasing power. Among these, the increase in the ceiling of the value sharing bonus, also known as the “Macron bonus”, from 3,000 to 10,000 euros per year, without charge or tax.

The presidential camp also proposes the implementation of group purchases for school supplies, making it possible to reduce their price by up to 15%. An energy renovation fund intended for middle and working class housing is also planned, with the aim of renovating 300,000 additional homes by 2027, financed by a tax on share buybacks.

Exemption from notary fees for first-time buyers

Another flagship measure concerns the exemption from notary fees for first-time property buyers, up to 250,000 euros. These costs include notaries’ fees as well as transfer duties for valuable consideration (DMTO), a tax financing communities.

Complementary public health and perspectives

Gabriel Attal also proposed the establishment of complementary “public” health insurance at 1 euro per day for people not covered by mutual insurance, a direct response to the increase in the price of health contracts. This initiative aims to provide more accessible and less expensive coverage for citizens.

The rest of the presidential majority’s program will be presented at the beginning of next week, said the Prime Minister. These announcements mark a clear offensive by Gabriel Attal and his camp to address the crucial issues of purchasing power and convince voters in view of the next legislative elections.
