Behind, it's the Ruthenian Vincent Leduc (pictured below) who resisted the best. With his Alpine, he took second place in all timed sectors and climbed to the second step of the podium. The third was much more contested. If Franck Bonnefis and his Porsche Cayman took third place in the opening special with a little more than a second ahead of the Escort of Bozoulais Jean-Michel Da Cunha, the latter slightly narrowed his gap in the second pass . We expected a fierce duel between the two men and it was the case. Both drivers tried everything. And in this game, the Ruthenian Franck Bonnefis pushed his limits by beating his best time by 10 seconds, thus leaving Da Cunha at the foot of the podium. The top 5 was completed by Thomas Argenti (Peugeot 208), who took the opportunity to take the lead in the FRC4 group. In the FRC5 category, the most extensive, Kévin Courrege (Peugeot 106) won, beating all the Clio RSs.
At the same time, the VHC also stood out yesterday in Rignac. And all categories combined, it was Jean-Luc Brossy who achieved the best time with his Ford Escort.
Held in mild weather, the 5th edition of the Pays Rignacois rally was a great success. Both on the side of the drivers who were present en masse, with 140 entrants, and who at the end of the event were full of praise for the new track, and on the side of the spectators, who appreciated the spectacle in the special stages, as well as the possibility of meeting the competitors and the cars in the service park.
Reactions
“Vincent Leduc, 2nd In the first pass, we went straight, we stalled and we lost a lot of time. Afterwards we drove well, but it changed the appearance of the rally a little. We should not have make no mistake in the first to aim for victory We had a great time on this special, the organization did a great job with well-staked ropes and they found a beautiful course on which we can have fun.
Bastien Dumas, co-driver of Jean-Michel Da Cunha, 4th It went very well. We were fighting for the podium with Franck Bonnefis throughout the rally. Until the last special we were in contact, but in this last passage he set a very fast time and honestly, we did everything we could, but going faster was not possible. The Escort is a great car, but it's going to be 30 years old. The new route of the special was great and with Jean-Michel we had a lot of fun in a well-organized event.
