The meeting between Le Havre and Reims, at the Océane stadium, counting for the 11th day of Ligue 1, was interrupted for a few minutes following homophobic chants. The Norman supporters, who hosted the Rémois, made insulting remarks aimed at the League. “The League, the League, we fuck you”, they sang just before the 60th minute.
Abdoulaye Touré, captain of Le Havre, immediately asked his Ultras to stop these insults. The referee, Hakim Ben El Hadj, interrupted the match, while Christopher Opéri was waiting to kick a free kick in favor of the HAC. He then spoke with the match delegate and the fourth referee to discuss stopping the match.
An announcement was finally made by the speaker. He told supporters that “the next interruption” would be “final”. However, the chants could be heard again a few minutes later, without the referee deciding to stop the match. The Rémois finally won 0-3 thanks to goals from Diakité, Nakamura and Ito. Le Havre have only won three points in eleven games and are penultimate. Reims is 7th with 17 points.
