The captain of the Blues announced this Sunday June 16 that he would not participate in the Olympic Games with the Bleuets, his new club, Real Madrid, having decided not to release its players.
It was a message day for Kylian Mbappé. On the eve of the French team’s entry into the Euro, Monday against Austria, the French captain took advantage of the press conference to address several burning topics.
In addition to the political crisis in France, Mbappé thus addressed the issue of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and closed it definitively: he will not be part of the adventure with Thierry Henry’s Bleuets.
“My club has a very clear position. From there, I think I will not participate in the Games”, explained the striker, who moved from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid at the beginning of June. The Spanish club announced several months ago that it would not release any of its members.

For Thierry Henry, the Bleuets coach, this defection, even expected, is added to the very long list of those deplored in recent weeks. Small consolation, Kylian Mbappé promised, he will be the first of the Tricolores supporters.
“I’m going to wish the best to this French team. I’m going to watch all the matches as a supporter. It will change. And I hope they bring us back the gold medal”concluded the attacker.
