As part of the Jupiler Pro League, the match between La Gantoise and Standard was scheduled for Sunday afternoon. But this match was suddenly turned upside down by a sinister moment in the first half. Noah Fadiga collapsed. Fortunately, he quickly regained his senses.
The match between the Buffalos and the Rouches usually guarantees spectacle and Sunday’s match also started very promisingly. This allowed the home team to take the lead from the start of the match. Tsuyoshi Watanabe managed to mercilessly punish a bad intervention by Mathieu Epolo.
Moment of fear
But the Liégeois did not let themselves be defeated and created great opportunities to rebalance the game. But these opportunities are not being realized. Ghent took advantage: just before the break, Max Dean doubled the lead for the home team. The Buffalos could therefore approach the break in a comfortable position, even if part of the group of players had their heads elsewhere.
The fault in particular was a big scare that occurred after half an hour of intense play. Fadiga suddenly collapsed on the sidelines.
No heart problem
While treating an injury, Ghent coach Wouter Vrancken called his players to give them tactical instructions. While he was speaking with Fadiga, the latter suddenly lost consciousness.
Panic was immediate, as the lane player has a history of heart problems. Fortunately, Fadiga quickly regained her senses. He even seemed to want to continue the match, but logically, that was not a solution.
In the meantime, Ghent also gave more explanations about the conscious phase. “He briefly lost consciousness during an interruption in play, perhaps following a shock that occurred a few minutes earlier. The first cardiological examinations revealed no heart problems. To be sure, Noah will undergo additional examinations at UZ Brussel.”
