A fire broke out very close to Rennes during the night from Saturday to Sunday on the site of a Seveso high threshold company.
The fire was brought under control by firefighters.
The Ille-et-Vilaine prefecture ensures that the smoke did not reach neighboring homes.
The Triadis company site in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande, a town bordering Rennes, was the scene of a fire during the night from Saturday to Sunday. A disaster that is necessarily worrying given its high-threshold Seveso classification, which required the intervention of the firefighters. The Ille-et-Vilaine prefecture nevertheless wants to be reassuring about the consequences of this fire brought under control around 3 a.m.

“The absence of wind during the night limited the dispersion of smoke” and the “panache vertical (…) did not reach the first houses away from the site 600 meters to the east” specified the institution in a press release. Good news for the residents closest to this site which collects, sorts and ensures initial treatment of more than 700 tonnes of hazardous household and industrial waste such as solvents, phytosanitary products , asbestos and land polluted with heavy metals.
“In accordance with regulations on ICPE Seveso classified sites, the firefighting water was stored in retention to be analyzed and treated.“, specifies the prefecture.
