TOP DEPARTURE: 1:02 p.m. EXACTLY

Hello everyone. It's D-day for the Vendée Globe. The start of the most prestigious offshore race will be given today at 1:02 p.m. precisely for the 40 skippers competing. An exceptional event to follow in the 1 p.m. news on TF1 and in this live broadcast.

There are 40 sea enthusiasts at the start of the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe. Thirty-four men and six women, a record number of participants since 1989, will set sail on Sunday, November 10. In the early morning, the contenders, more prepared than ever, will weigh anchor from Les Sables-d'Olonne, at regular intervals, to place themselves on the imaginary starting line of this anniversary edition.

The skippers will leave the pontoon between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., at a rate of one sailboat every four minutes, to position themselves. Once all the Imocas have set sail, the gunshot, which marks the start of nearly three months of sailing adventures around the world, solo, non-stop and without assistance, will be given offshore at 1:02 p.m. precisely, weather conditions permitting.

If you don't have the chance to hurry along the famous Chenal des Sables, which the sailors will sail up to leave the port, rest assured: you won't miss anything on the big day. See you on TF1 and LCI, channel 26 of TNT, to follow live, as close as possible to the heroes of the seas, the departure and the starting signal. Once the competitors have launched, the Vendée Globe map will allow you to follow the fleet in real time, from 1:12 p.m., with an update every six minutes.
