“The entire club, managers, volunteers and players, would like to thank everyone who assured them of their support during the painful moments we have just experienced”said SO Millau in a press release on Saturday, on the eve of the resumption of the championship while Loïc Keita, recruited during the summer to strengthen the first line, lost his life in a car accident two weeks earlier while going to in Monaco to play with the Aveyron B team.
Press release which continues as follows: “The immediate support of all the friendly and neighboring clubs of Aveyron, the support of all the clubs in our Federal 2 group but also of countless clubs in France, from the Top 14 to the Regional, has touched us enormously and allowed us to continue to move forward even if it is no longer the same. We have lost a playmate and nothing can replace that, and especially a one month old baby and his mother have lost a dad forever!
The courage of our players amazed us in these difficult times as much as the kindness of the Monaco club which hosted us that weekend! We were able to see that the values of our sport, Rugby, were more relevant than ever despite a sometimes heavy context in sport currently. We cannot end these thanks without mentioning the president of the FFR, Florian Grill, and all the federal authorities, who have been at our side every day since this sinister Saturday.
Added to this is the unwavering support of our institutional and private partners who are just as affected as us. Thanks to you, thanks to our players, we will emerge stronger from this ordeal and continue our march forward.”
