RC Lens supporters threw tennis balls onto the lawn of the Bollaert stadium during the match against FC Nantes, November 9, 2024.

LEAGUE 1 – This is an unusual type of action in the middle of a Ligue 1 match. The match between Lens and Nantes was briefly interrupted this Saturday, November 9 at the Bollaert stadium after supporters threw tennis balls onto the field. Several dozen tennis balls were thrown onto the pitch after a restart from Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont from three stands, in the 11th minute.

Referee Clément Turpin stopped the game for three to four minutes to allow the players and security agents to clean the field. The game resumed immediately.

LFP president Vincent Labrune targeted

The stadium announcer announced that the match would be definitively stopped if similar incidents occurred again.

Lensois supporters also expressed their hostility towards the Professional League (LFP) by deploying banners and singing chants which notably targeted its president Vincent Labrune. “ Your management enrages the stands. Thank you LFP ”, we could say on one of these banners.

A similar action took place Friday evening at the Bauer stadium in the region where Red Star faced in Ligue 2.
