The first ministerial conference Russia-Africa provided a framework conducive to reflection on the prospects for cooperation between the African continent and Russia in the field of digitalization. Among the notable interventions, that of Thank you VeteransZimbabwean Minister of Information, stressed the importance of Africa’s engagement in joint digitalization projects, with a view to improving African public administrations. According to her, this collaboration could constitute a notable step forward for the development of electronic administration in Africa.
Russian experience in digital management could provide solutions adapted to the administrative challenges facing Africa. Mavetera highlighted the potential of digitalization to reduce the costs of public services, a major issue for several African states seeking solutions to improve administrative efficiency while remaining economically viable. She also raised the possibility for Africa to increase the digital literacy of its citizens by leveraging Russian skills, which would help both modernize public services and facilitate people’s access to digital tools.
Zimbabwe’s call reflects a desire for cooperation with Russia, beyond traditional exchanges, to meet the growing digital transformation needs of African public institutions. The Zimbabwean minister expressed hope that this collaboration will generate tangible results, particularly for countries whose developing digital infrastructures would benefit from an additional boost through these exchanges.
By opening up to digitalization partnerships, Africa could thus promote a more responsive and inclusive administration, while offering solutions adapted to local realities.
