A large-scale intervention. Shortly before midnight, Friday November 8, 2024, a violent fire seized a seven-story residential building located Allées Charles-de-Fitte, Saint-Cyprien districtin Toulouse.
Residents trapped by flames and smoke
According to the SDIS 31 (Haute-Garonne departmental fire and rescue service), the disaster would have started at the height of the fifth floor. When they arrived on the scene, many residents, trapped by flames and smokeappeared at the windows.
At the height of the intervention, 29 firefighters were deployed to control the fire and rescue the victims. “The fire was quickly contained using a lance,” specifies the SDIS.
Significant material damage
Thanks to rapid intervention, thirty people living there were able to be saved and supported. “No injuries were reported,” said the firefighters. But the disaster caused significant material damage.
“After ventilation of the premises, some of the residents were able to return to their homes, however, 11 apartments are uninhabitable.” The municipality was responsible for rehouse three peoplethe others having been welcomed by relatives.
Also present on site, the police national opened an investigation to determine the exact origin of this fire.
