Scott Kennedy: “We want three points so we can celebrate with our supporters”

“Even if Patro Eisden is a difficult opponent to beat, KAS Eupen is firmly aiming for the fourth victory of the season for this meeting on the 11th day,” announces Scott Kennedy, central defender of KAS Eupen. “We want to be stable and win three points in our stadium with the support of our fans. To achieve this, however, we must avoid conceding cheap goals late in the match, as has been the case several times recently. We worked on this point during the last week of training,” explained the new Canadian recruit during the press conference preceding the Sunday evening match.

Mersad Selimbegović: “Player development is going well, but we still lack the killer instinct”

The goals conceded unnecessarily were also mentioned by head coach Mersad Selimbegović during the interim assessment after 10 days. “They have already cost us a lot of points since the start of the season and that annoys me. I certainly cannot be satisfied with the figures. On the other hand, we have made good progress on two important objectives: The integration of young players into the team and the relaunch of experienced players is not going too badly, everyone is evolving. What we still lack is perseverance and the killer instinct. We must no longer be blocked in the 94th minute of play or concede a 2-2 on a throw-in just before the end. These are lost points that push you towards mediocrity.”

“Patro plays simply, but does it well and efficiently”

On Sunday, Mersad Selimbegović expects to face an opponent typical of a good D2 team. “The team has been playing together for 2-3 years, each player knows their role and knows exactly what they have to do. The second ball is played quickly from deep and they have very good dribblers on the flanks. They have already won 7 penalties so far, and with VAR, they would certainly have won at least 9. Patro plays good manly football. They know what they can and cannot do and focus on their strengths to succeed and score points. They play in a simple way, but they do it very well and efficiently.

With the exception of Isaac Nuhu and Nathan Bitumazala, all are fit

With the exception of Isaac Nuhu and Nathan Bitumazala, who have been injured for a few weeks, all KAS Eupen professional players are ready and fit. There is therefore no shortage of competition for a place in the team.
