Double twist in the trial of the fire at the Pissevin police office. The hearing for the immediate appearance of one of the defendants was to be held this Friday before the Nîmes criminal court. But this 28 year old man requested a referral to better prepare your defense. At the same time, his lawyer requested additional information because his client assures that he was not in at the time of the events last August.

Even if the debates were very brief, they gave rise to a little drama. If the referral request was predictable, the arguments put forward by the defendant's lawyer clearly call into question the investigators' version. Without going into specific details, Master Dounia Hamchouch assures that it has probative elements which show that its client was not on French territory at the time of the facts.

Trial postponed to January 10, 2025

The suspect claims he was in Spain for a week between August 19 and 24. He was returning from Morocco where he had gone to attend his grandmother's funeral. He could therefore not be present in Nîmes when the Pissevin police office was hit by fire on the night of August 20 to 21. The man is not presented as the one who set fire to the premises next to the station, but as the one who accompanied in this operation the 15-year-old teenager considered to be the alleged perpetrator.

The suspect fiercely denies being involved in this fire insists his lawyer.
