Spain is not finished with floods. After the Valencia region last week, new intense rainfall this time fell on Catalonia, on the night of Thursday November 7 to Friday November 8, 2024.

In the town of Cadaqués, not far from the border with France, more than 100 mm of rain fell in a few hours, according to the Catalan meteorological agency (Meteocat).
No injuries to report
The river of the same name which crosses the town has burst its banks, causing spectacular flooding, as evidenced by numerous images shared on social networks.

Around thirty cars were swept away by the waters. According to the newspaper The Country they were parked in a flood zone. According to firefighters, no injuries were reported.
Some residents say they were not warned by the authorities. During the dramatic floods which affected the Valencia region a week ago, leaving at least 219 dead and dozens missing, the question of alerting the population had already created controversy, the system having been triggered late.
This Friday morning, the regions of Baix Emporda and Alt, in the north-east of Catalonia, were placed on orange alert by the Catalan meteorological services. On the other side of the border, Météo France did the same for Aude and Hérault.
