Russia fired a barrage of drones and missiles into Ukraine overnight Thursday, killing one civilian and injuring more than 30 people in the center, south and northeast, Ukrainian officials said.

Russian forces launched 92 drones and five missiles into 12 Ukrainian regions, the Air Force said.

Sixty-two drones and four missiles were shot down, and 26 drones were “lost,” which most likely means they were electronically disabled.

According to the Interior Ministry, one person was killed in the Odessa region, where civilian infrastructure and homes were damaged and nine people were injured.

An attack on a residential area in the Kyiv region left four people injured and damaged at least six houses and several cars.

Russia also shelled the northeastern city of Kharkiv with guided bombs, wounding at least 25 people, regional governor Oleh Syniehoubov said.

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky has launched a new appeal to his allies to help strengthen his air defenses.

“Air defense, long-range capabilities, arms deliveries, sanctions against the aggressor – this is the response that is needed, not only in words, but also in deeds,” he said on the Telegram messaging app.

Russia has stepped up its aerial attacks on Ukrainian towns and villages, bringing down swarms of drones over the country almost every night.

Ukrainian officials say Russia is trying to weaken their air defenses and demoralize the civilian population as the war bogs down and Russian troops advance in the east of the country.

According to the Ukrainian military, Russia launched more than 2,000 attack drones on civilian and military targets in October.
