Looking tired, his eyes red, the 18-year-old explains that he met Ewan and became friend with him, several years ago.
When he was in high school in Montauban-de-Bretagne, he hung out in Parthenay and we saw each other. The last time we saw each other was the weekend before he died.
“We found his cap, then his bag, then him”
At 19, Ewan was in apprenticeship in the field of agricultural mechanics and “enjoyed it”assures his friend.
On Monday, he took part in the hunt organized by Ewan's family to try to find him. “We received a message on WhatsApp telling us to stop searching and come back to the town hall. That's when we were told that we had found his cap, his bag, then him. »
“A very happy guy”
He remembers his friend as “a very happy guy.” “You could say he was the Care Bear of our group of friends. He wasn't in the stories at all.”he describes with modesty and incomprehension. Nothing, according to him, could suggest that this act could happen.
However, he knows that an altercation took place between Ewan and another participant at the private evening organized at the community hall on the night of Saturday to Sunday. Which explains why Ewan only stayed there for a few dozen minutes after returning from Rennes, where he had gone out to a bar and a nightclub.
Today, he can't believe his friend's death. “We haven't been able to see it yet“, he whispers. An autopsy on Ewan's body was carried out on Wednesday.
Saturday November 9, he will participate in the white march organized to pay tribute to his friend.
A village turned upside down
In the village, at the bakery, at the hairdresser, at the supermarket, the drama is on everyone's lips : “We hear everything and its opposite. So, we are careful not to repeat things that we do not know,” say the traders. Everyone is moved, particularly three elderly ladies, met in the streets of Parthenay: “It’s obviously an event that marks. What happened to get there? »
Not far away, a resident says he took part in the hunt.
Initially, I hadn't noticed the disappearance; it was friends, who didn't even live in Parthenay, who told me about it. So I lent a hand for the hunt. Hunters came to help too. He was finally found on the path of the three small bridges at the exit of the city towards Saint-Gilles.
The man admits that since then, almost all discussions have revolved around this subject. “Basically, it’s a city without history”he concludes.
