ECONOMY. The Jean Coutu pharmacy in Coaticook was awarded the Excell-Pro prize, which rewards the laboratory team having demonstrated the most initiative and motivation through the network to which it is affiliated.
Pharmacist owner Marie-Ève Ouimette says she is proud and touched to have obtained this award during a gala presented in Vancouver, British Columbia, on October 24. “It’s a great honor for us, and a nice pat on the back, too,” underlines the woman who has held the reins of this business for 17 years now. The price is not an individual one. It’s really thanks to the entire team, their rigor, their professionalism, their hard work and the services they provide to patients. »
The five pharmacists, the twenty technical assistants, the laboratory clerks, the cashiers and the delivery people form this group which stood out among the 420 branches of the network in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick. The Jean Coutu pharmacy in Coaticook was a finalist in 2019 during this same gala.
ON THE FRONT LINE
It’s sometimes often forgotten, but pharmacists are part of the front lines of health care. “Since the pandemic, it has been possible for us to do a few more things, such as vaccination or adjusting medication for treatment. The pharmacy is no longer just a place where we come to pick up our medications, it is also a place to receive a wide range of advice,” explains Ms. Ouimette.
A new bill from the Quebec government will soon give even more flexibility to the work of pharmacists. This improvement will most likely lead to a rearrangement of the work space at this pharmacy on Child Street, in Coaticook. “We made plans for renovations. The team is growing and we are starting to feel a little more cramped. We want to offer clients clinical spaces, offices and privacy areas worthy of the name. We also want to develop our laboratory. These changes will be good,” says the pharmacist-owner.
