A 60-year-old man died Thursday after being beaten during a brawl in Morteau, in Doubs (F), less than ten kilometers from the Swiss border. The victim was discovered Thursday around 1 a.m. in the street, while she was in cardio-respiratory arrest. Despite the intervention of emergency services, she did not survive.
A 21-year-old young man, suspected of having beaten up the sixty-year-old with whom he had “spent part of the evening”, was arrested and placed in police custody, said the public prosecutor of Besançon, Etienne Coats. The latter specifies that the two men had a “family-related” dispute, linked to members of their respective families.
An autopsy was ordered to determine the exact causes of the sixty-year-old’s death. “These blows are clearly the cause of death,” said the prosecutor at this stage of the investigation. As for the suspect, who was very drunk at the time of his arrest, he tested positive not only for alcohol, but also for narcotics. Already convicted of violence, he was also to be tried for other acts of violence later this month.
