Millions of French people use gas bottles. When they are empty, they can represent an immense danger and must be returned to collection points as quickly as possible.

For several weeks, Pascal has been storing his gas bottles in his garage: “These are two bottles that I got from my deceased mother. Something had to be done with them”. After having consumed them, Pascal intends to return the empty bottles. Because, in the event of a fire, even empty, they could represent a serious danger if they were to explode. The first to be affected by this problem are the firefighters, who are regularly confronted with this problem during their interventions.

In France, barely 10% of gas bottles are returned after use. On a resale website, there are dozens of classified ads. Individuals are looking to sell empty bottles. To avoid risky situations, Sébastien, an authorized reseller, collects all the bottles brought to him free of charge, even from brands he does not sell. Sébastien sells between 30 and 40 bottles per month. Currently, 68 million bottles are in circulation in France.
