The Mauvais cancres 03 association is organizing an awareness day for attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity (ADHD), this Wednesday, June 12, from 2 p.m., at Parc des Îlets, in Montluçon.
Visitors will be able to learn about ADHD at the different stands. “Our objective is to deconstruct preconceived ideas about ADHD. With the testimonies, we also show that the treatment is too complex. We want to make our demands during this day,” insists Corentin Dugat, president of Mauvais cancres 03 but also the national federation Mauvais cancres which supports the Montluçon event.
Adults forgotten in care
According to diagnostic methods, in France, 6% of children and 3% of adults suffer from ADHD. The Mauvais cancres federation is fighting for improved diagnosis and care.
“For the families and then the adults concerned, these are years of wandering. If we take poor care of the child, the adult will have a bad life. Adults are also the great forgotten ones in the care “We lack health professionals specialized in these disorders to have the diagnoses.”
The president of Mauvais cancres 03 warns that the lack of support means that adults suffering from ADHD are more inclined to develop other disorders and addictions.
“It is important to make the diagnosis and then to have treatment through medication, but not only that. Art, sport, follow-up by a psychologist help. Work can also be adapted. These are invisible disorders but they can ruin a life. This shows that disability remains the leading cause of discrimination in France,” says Corentin Dugat.

This awareness day will be followed by an ADHD café at the Boris-Vian media library, 27 rue des Faucheroux, in Montluçon from 5 p.m.
