On September 30, 2023, Lucas, 25, died in the emergency room of Hyères () following septic shock. Despite his weakened state, he spent eight hours on a stretcher without being taken care of, the caregivers believing that he was suffering from indigestion. The young man died on the spot, before the eyes of another patient, who had testified in the media. A complaint was filed by his relatives on December 12 for “involuntary manslaughter”.

Another internal investigation

According to Var Morning This Thursday, the prosecution opened a judicial investigation for “involuntary manslaughter causing the death of others through clumsiness, imprudence, inattention, negligence or breach of an obligation of caution or safety imposed by law or regulation”. An investigating judge has been appointed. An investigation was carried out internally by the regional health agency and a second report was drawn up by the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs at the request of the Ministry of Health.

“I’m in so much pain”

Lucas had exchanged numerous messages with his mother, who was not allowed to join him, on the day of the tragedy. “ I complain to everyone that I'm having trouble breathing. But no one does anything “, he wrote at 6:02 p.m. “ I'm in so much pain », he adds four minutes later. Around 9:30 p.m., more than five hours after his arrival, Lucas, sitting on his stretcher, collapsed. He reportedly received an injection of antibiotics around midnight. Too late. The boy is already in a coma. The infection spread into his blood. He suffered two cardiac arrests and died in front of his parents at 2 a.m.
