A new scandal which is shaking amateur football. Two coaches from a club near Toulouse have just filed a complaint. For good reason, one person's car and the other's house were targeted by a fire about ten days ago. Among the main suspects of these acts, two parents with dreams of glory for their child who are unhappy with his playing time during a match. At the Colomiers club, there is dismay for educators and managers.
Parents driven by a “Mbappé project”
In this club of 800 members, training has been suspended. Jean-Marc Santin, the district president, even came to support the two educators. “The first one, we burned his car. His partner had the same thing. The house caught fire, they had to take the children out. Go and burn cars because our son was not selected for a tournament, It’s unimaginable,” laments the coach, stunned.
An extreme case, but which highlights these parents driven by “an Mbappé project”, as they say in this popular suburb, because many put pressure on coaches like JB. “They absolutely want their child to be an attacker since everyone thinks that their children will be future Mbappé who will make a fortune with their own children. It’s very tiring,” he explains to Europe 1.
“At some point, it’s not Paris Saint-Germain”
Also useful for Julien, a referee at the club who, during matches, is even threatened by parents. “They stand on the edge of the pitch. It's very complicated for us. We're taken hostage. I've been refereeing amateur football for 17 years. It's gotten too bad. At one point given, it’s not Paris Saint-Germain,” the referee gets angry. To mark the occasion, all youth matches will be postponed this weekend throughout the Haute-Garonne department.
