SAccording to BFMTV, arrested on September 24 in Geneva, Taha Oualidat is suspected of having killed Philippine, a 19-year-old student found dead on September 21 in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. Initially, the Moroccan refused his extradition to France, before withdrawing last week.
Arriving in France in 2019 at the age of 17 with a tourist visa, Taha Oualidat was subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF) since June 18, which he did not contest. Previously, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison for a rape committed on a 23-year-old student in Taverny, in Val-d'Oise, of which he had served 5 years.
On September 3, a judge took him out of the detention center, with a reporting obligation and house arrest in a hotel in Yonne, where he never showed up. It was in this context that he was arrested in Geneva a few days later.
Originally from Morocco, Taha Oualidat obtained a consular pass from his country of origin on September 6, allowing his expulsion. But by then he was already on the run.
Now handed over to the French authorities, the 22-year-old Moroccan will soon be presented to an investigating judge as part of the investigation into the murder of the young Filipina.
