Algeria Football– A new scandal erupts around Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, following allegations concerning her gender identity. The subject is causing a stir after the publication of allegedly “leaked” documents which claim that Imane Khelif, Olympic boxing champion, is a biological man. These accusations triggered shock waves in the world of sport, notably with calls to strip him of his gold medal obtained at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The controversy began with the distribution of a document attributed to an internal medical report. According to this document, Imane Khelif, aged 25, has male biological characteristics, in particular male chromosomes. The report in question would have been written in 2023 by a collaboration between Algerian and French endocrinology experts, working respectively at the Kremlin-Bicetre hospital in Paris and at the Mohamed Lamine Debaghine hospital in Algiers. The latter fueled rumors that the boxer possessed masculine physical features, which immediately raised questions about her legitimacy in women's competition.
However, Dr. Jacques Young, a Parisian endocrinologist whose name was reportedly cited in the document, strongly denied the accusations. According to him, his identity had been used for malicious purposes to spread false information. In a statement to the German television channel “Deutsche Welle”, the doctor insisted that the document had been falsified and that he had never taken part in its drafting.
Official reactions and support for Imane Khelif
The reaction of the Algerian Olympic committee was immediate. In a statement, the body denied any veracity of the documents in circulation, stressing that they were malicious attempts aimed at tarnishing the image of an athlete who made Algeria proud on the international scene. The committee condemned the attacks, saying they had no place in the world of sport.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) also reacted to the matter, announcing that Khelif had filed a legal complaint against the individuals who disseminated this information. The IOC clarified that, while legal procedures were ongoing, it would not comment on unverified documents.

In a tweet to his 8.8 million followers, Morgan wrote: “This is what some of us were saying from the start: Khelif is biologically male. It's time to take away his gold medal. »
Former tennis champion Martina Navratilova also came out in support of Morgan's appeal. On the social network the awarding of medals to Khelif.
