The Haute-Garonne football district and the Occitanie Football League announce a strong gesture: no meeting will be organized during the weekend of November 9 and 10 to protest against attacks and inappropriate behavior targeting educators.

This initiative follows an unacceptable incident: the burning of the vehicles of two educators from the under-11 team last week. “We have made a strong decision to make an impression,” indicates the Haut-Garonnais football district, on its social networks. “This symbolic stop aims to remind everyone, and in particular parents, that respect for our educators is essential and non-negotiable. »

“Every week, these educators stand on the sidelines, to guide, encourage, and teach young players, despite the difficulties and sometimes the hostility they encounter. Today, these behaviors are reaching an unacceptable level. This weekend, we say together that without educators, there is no football,” writes the Ligue d’Occitanie in a press release.

The decision concerns “all categories of District 31 (entertainment football, youth and seniors) and the Occitanie League (young men and women)”, reports the Haute-Garonne Football District. “We have decided to interrupt all regional competitions this weekend (young men's and women's competitions, except the Coupe Gambardella Crédit-Agricole match: – Alès OL.),” adds the Occitanie Football League.

She then adds: “This decision marks a pause to allow everyone to sit down, reflect and understand that every word or gesture counts. Without respect for those who supervise and host the matches, football cannot exist. Together, let's make this weekend a moment of awareness for respectful football, for the well-being of our educators. “.
