“It’s a disaster”, these are the first words of the manager of the garage automobile Hight Auto of Penchard (Seine-et-Marne), small town north of Meaux. On the night of Tuesday November 5 to Wednesday November 6, 2024, around 2 a.m., the exterior part of the garage caught fire. 27 cars were completely burned.
An investigation was opened by the Meaux police station, the scientific police are currently on site.
30 firefighters on site
The first flames appeared around 2 a.m. this Wednesday, November 6. According to the garage manager, totally demoralized, it was members of the social hotel next door who alerted the firefighters.
Quickly on site, around thirty firefighters were dispatched and only managed to completely overcome the flames around 4 a.m.
The manager, for his part, was warned by his employee when he wakes up at around 6 a.m.. “It was a shock for me, I had to go there immediately. »
“An act of malevolence”
For the owner of the garage, there is no doubt, “it is an act of malicious intent, someone is mad at me. » In total, 27 cars were completely set on fire, five others partially. “It’s a significant financial loss,” laments the manager, who took over the garage three years ago.
The premises were also slightly affected. “In the heat, the gutters fell, and the walls turned black. »
The origin of the fire is currently still unknown, but still on site, the scientific police claim to have spotted two fires.
