An insane project that finally becomes reality with a Lada
The Garage 54 YouTube channel has more than 875,000 subscribers. It mainly specializes in absurd automotive experiments. This team has once again pushed the limits by equipping a Lada car with a V16 engine. But it's not a classic V16. It's an improbable work of engineering made up of 16 58cc Hüter BS-62 chainsaw engines. These small motors are assembled to form a long, imposing unit of 928 cm³.
This V16 engine only produces 74 horseswhich is less than a standard car these days. However, the team managed to get the modified Lada running, reaching a top speed of 60 km/h after 26 seconds. That's a ridiculous performance compared to what cars are capable of these days, but it's still an achievement with a home-made engine.
In order to accommodate this unusual and imposing engine in the Lada's compartment, Garage 54 had to extend engine compartment spectacularly. The fenders were lengthened, the brake lines were modified, as was the steering shaft. To top it off, they forgo installing a hood for the chance to see the engine in all its glory.

After many necessary adjustments, the team first tested the Lada V16 in a garage. It was a first test before taking it on the road. Indeed, the acceleration of this engine is good far from current standards. But this Lada remains a mechanical feat hilarious and impressive.
