Snail operations for VTC drivers in Toulouse for the third consecutive day

Several dozen VTC drivers participated on Wednesday for the third consecutive day in in a mobilization against the fares imposed since the spring by the reservation platforms, deeming them insufficient. After snail-like operations on the Toulouse ring road, the mobilized drivers headed to airport on Wednesday, on the outskirts of the Pink City, for a screening operation.

“We want to raise awareness among other drivers who work there to join us”explained to AFP Faissal Jamai, VTC driver, spokesperson for the Toulouse movement and representative of the FO-INV union. He calls into question the prices retained during the last negotiations between representatives of drivers and platforms and which began to apply in the spring. These agreements set a minimum income of 30 euros per hour of activity and one euro per kilometer traveled for drivers.

“One euro per kilometer is not at all profitable, it’s not serious”believes Faissal Jamai, especially since this does not include the “fees taken by the platforms” in addition. At the time, “the unions decided to accept this offer even though the drivers were not in 100% agreement”he believes, calling into question the representativeness of the organizations which signed the agreement on tariffs. Another agreement marks an increase in the minimum income per trip to 9 euros, instead of 7.65 euros previously. These prices have since been mandatory for all VTC platforms, from Uber to Heetch to Bolt.

In addition, the mobilized Toulouse drivers are demanding the establishment of a “numerus clausus, we want to limit the number of drivers”. “The number of drivers increases each year, (in the Toulouse region) there are around 1500, 2000 drivers and each year, there are around 400 added”assures Faissal Jamai. Around a hundred vehicles were mobilized on Wednesday, like the two previous days.
