The prefect of Dordogne, Jean-Sébastien Lamontagne, explained this Wednesday morning on France Blue Périgord that it validated the new diversion project at Beynac, supported by the departmental council. “We took nine months to examine this matter in detail, and the answer is yes, she is being held responsible.”he affirmed, emphasizing that despite this administrative approval, administrative justice will have the last word due to the conviction of the Department which must destroy the site of the first project.

The prefect also specified that this project differs from the previous one, although it includes certain existing elements, notably the piers of bridges whose demolition had been ordered by the courts. “This new project changes scale, it is no longer just a diversion project, but a global development for the Dordogne valley.”he explained. Jean-Sébastien Lamontagne insisted on the complexity of this file, adding: “Before anything can be done on the ground, we will have to wait for the decision of the administrative judge, which will take time.“
