One person was killed and several others kidnapped after the attack perpetrated, Tuesday, November 5 in the early hours of the morning, by ADF rebels in Makuto, in the Walendu Bindi chiefdom in the south of Irumu territory (Ituri).
Local sources add that several houses were burned by these rebels who were subsequently pushed back by militiamen from the Force for the Patriotic Resistance of Ituri (FRPI).
Tuesday morning, around five o’clock, the ADF rebels attacked the village of Mukato, located about 50 kilometers from Gety, capital of the Walendu Bindi chiefdom.
They shot and killed the village chief and kidnapped several other people. They took them to an unknown destination.
Before the arrival of the FRPI militiamen present in the area, these ADF managed to set fire to several huts.
Until this Wednesday, the populations who live in seven villages located on the outskirts of Mukato have found refuge in Kamatsi-Kodogo, indicates a local elected official.
They are exposed to bad weather, particularly during this rainy season.
This elected official from the Irumu territory calls for emergency aid for these people, including children, women and the elderly.
