In Francescas, a collection of donations is being organized to help the victims of the recent floods in the Valencia region.

Sonia Favergeon and Orlando Rodrigues, president of the Francescas Festival Committee, are mobilizing to help flood victims. The couple made contact with a former resident of Valencia, now resident in the Basque Country, and whose appeal for donations was broadcast in several media. On its social networks, the Festival Committee has already published a list of needs.

Removal tools requested

As is often the case during natural disasters, non-perishable food items (canned goods, rice, pasta, etc.) are expected, as well as hygiene products, clothing in good condition, and food for dogs and cats. “But what we are mainly waiting for and which is less mentioned is clearing equipment,” emphasizes Sonia Favergeon. “Work tools, pumps to suck up water, construction boots… Enough to clean more quickly. »

The convoy should leave at the very end of the week. If the donation trucks are not full, Sonia and Orlando will take them to Oloron-Sainte-Marie, where they will be relayed. “Otherwise, if the trucks are full, someone has offered to drive us to Valencia with his van,” continues Sonia. “Anyway, all help is welcome. The only thing we refuse is financial donations. In this type of situation, victims need material, concrete things. We want to prove that solidarity is our greatest strength.”

Collection point at 15, boulevard du , Francescas. For all information, contact 07 52 94 19 75 or 06 98 92 20 77.
