The apartments at 6 rue de Trévise, in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, were blown up after the explosion on January 12, 2019. Photos of ransacked interiors bear witness to the violence of the explosion caused by a gas leak in the street. It took six years for the building to be restored. The residents, worn out by the procedures and the lengthy costs, find it difficult to speak of relief. Between the anxiety of reinvesting the place and being fed up with “having to fight for their rights”, their feelings are mixed when they walk through the door of their accommodation.
Everyone remembers what they were doing this Saturday in January 2019 around 8:45 a.m., when the explosion occurred. Some were in their kitchen, others in bed. Returning to her apartment six years later, Odile Grandamy discovered that her breakfast bowl was still in the dishwasher, just as she had placed it in the basket just before the firefighters knocked on her door. “It’s quite a memory, I’m going to frame them,” she smiles. In total, at number 6 rue de Trévise, 20 co-owners will reinvest the premises in the coming weeks.
