Already sold out, the dance show “Rites de passage”, created by the company Sylex, will be performed at the Cube Cirque de l’Agora this Thursday, November 7.

Cn Thursday, November 7, 120 spectators will be present at the Cube Cirque de l'Agora to attend “Rites of passage”, a creation by the company Sylex and Périgourdine, Sylvie Balestra, which is already sold out in Dordogne and on several other dates elsewhere in . Dedicated to adolescence, and to the various changes experienced during this period, this choreographic solo aims to reason with young people, from 10 years old, who are experiencing or will soon experience adolescence, but also to adults who have already passed this ordeal.

An anthropological approach

For the choreographer, the desire to delve into the world of adolescence was born during a meeting with young people incarcerated in a closed educational center. Then comes the desire to address young people for the second time after the show “Grrrrr” put on in 2016. “In a world where rites of passages are less and less defined by society, things are less and less less scripted,” explains Sylvie Balestra, who worked alongside an anthropologist to better understand the rites of today’s youth.

On stage, this involves unique sound and scenographic work. With music first, and a sound track broadcast in the room in a spatial manner on different amplifiers. Then by constructing the stage space, with benches installed around and as close as possible to the hexagon-shaped dance floor. “It is also a symbolic form of sport, in footballs or fighting rings. »

“Rites of passage” by Sylvie Balestra from the Sylex company this Thursday, November 7 at 8 p.m. at the Cube Cirque de l’Agora in Boulazac-Isle-Manoire.
