A major relief system was deployed on Monday November 4, 2024 in the Chartrons district, in Bordeaux (Gironde). Shortly after 8 p.m., a fire broke out in the underground parking lot of a two-story residence, reports Southwest . The fire destroyed five vehicles, whose fuel tanks and tires exploded. A total of 54 residents had to be evacuated but none were injured. The residents were taken care of in a nearby hotel while the firefighters intervened, indicates France Blue Gironde .
Residents relocated
The material damage is significant. The municipality has issued an order to prohibit access to the parking lot and nine housing units, pending an assessment of the structure. Six people were rehoused, including four by the Bordeaux social action center.
The other residents returned to their apartments, despite water and power outages. A police investigation has been opened to determine the causes of this fire.
