Israel and its supporters accuse her of anti-Semitism when she denounces a “genocide”. Francesca Albanese, independent UN expert, has once again attracted the wrath of the Jewish state by stating in her report entitled Colonial erasure through genocide that we are witnessing the “first colonial genocide broadcast live to take place against the Palestinian people,” relays -.

Addressing the Canadian government on Sunday in Montreal, this expert, mandated by the Human Rights Council but who does not speak on behalf of the UN, asked States to respect their obligations under the Convention to the prevention and repression of the crime of genocide.

Before a commission of the United Nations General Assembly at the end of November, Francesca Albanese had already estimated that “the genocide of the Palestinian population appears to be the means to an end: the complete expulsion or eradication of Palestinians from the land to which such an essential part of their identity is attached and which is illegally and openly coveted by Israel.”

Accusation of anti-Semitism

Faced with these comments, the Israeli ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, called for her resignation and the American ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield judged the expert “unfit for her role”. “The United Nations should not tolerate anti-Semitism from a UN-affiliated official committed to promoting human rights,” she added.
