On the occasion of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, a charity match in favor of the Bleuet de France association will be held at the Michel d’Ornano stadium this Saturday (8 p.m.) between former players of the SM Caen and former members of the French team. Among them, Frank Leboeuf spoke in the columns of Ouest-France, and gives his view on the current situation of the SMC in League 2.

“Stade Malherbe Caen is a family club, which suffers because it is difficult financially. When I think of Caen, I think of Pickeu, Lebourgeois, Gravelaine… These are guys who made me dream. There is also N’Golo Kanté. When I was a player, it was never easy to play against Caen. The image of the club is beautiful. I hope that Caen will once again become the Caen that I knew, the one that played in the European Cup. I remember one match in particular (with Strasbourg, in 1993) where I scored a hat-trick against Malherbe when I had a fracture of the orbital floor and I was a defender. »
