End clap in the NBA for DJ Augustin. At 36 years old and after fourteen years spent struggling in the Big League, the pocket leader has decided to hang up his sneakers. A rather logical choice, since Augustin had not appeared on the courts since the 2021-22 season, with a short stint with the Lakers.
Casually, DJ Augustin can boast of having a good career. If the leader was never an All-Star, or even a first option for his team, he nonetheless remained a respected veteran, capable of bringing his experience and his big shots. We are still talking here about a man drafted in 2008, and who spent his entire career in the NBA. A career spanning fourteen years, during which the leader experienced eleven different teams.
Among his most notable passages, we will especially remember his debut with Charlotte, his year in Chicago, where he averaged 15 pts and, more recently, his great adventure with Orlando. Some may also remember his monstrous game-winner against the Raptors during the 2019 Playoffs.
DJ Augustin officially announced his retirement this Sunday! ????
Clutch leader for Orlando, useful leader for Tom Thibodeau, respected veteran who managed to provide 14 seasons in the NBA (this is not given to everyone). https://t.co/tOwUlkHXWG

Collectively and individually, Denis-Jean Augustin still had the opportunity to fill his trophy cabinet a little during these fourteen years. Selected by the Charlotte Bobcats with the 9th pick of the 2008 Draft, the leader finished the season by being chosen in the Second All-Rookie Team. A nice performance, as his vintage was full, with Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Goran Dragic and even Mario Chalmers just on his post. Collectively, DJ played in the Eastern Conference Finals with Indiana and Paul George in 2013. But against the Heat of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, the step was too high.
A great career then, but one that DJ Augustin is now leaving behind. Fourteen great years, the same number as the one that the pocket leader used to choose on the back of his jersey. It just goes to show that a sense of timing is never lost.
