Roland Hirigoyen, mayor of Mouguerre, presented the prizes for the flowered houses on Sunday, November 3, at the Haitz Ondoan hall. The town has benefited from the “Cities and villages in bloom” label for many years, it obtained its second flower in 2011 and has always retained it.
The label rewards the commitment of municipalities to improving the living environment. It takes into account the place given to plants in the development of public spaces, environmental protection, preservation of natural resources and biodiversity. It also takes into account the promotion of French botanical heritage, tourist attractiveness and the involvement of citizens at the heart of the projects.
Give color
In his speech the mayor “honored those who contribute to making Mouguerre a commune in which it is good to live. He also praised the work of municipal agents who help to beautify and give color to public spaces and streets. City entrances, roundabouts, the town hall and its gardens, flowerbeds and even flowerbeds have mobilized and required both involvement and application on the part of the population in order to beautify, flower and give color, with the aim of reinventing the city and taming gray concrete.”
The prizes were awarded to winners on four levels, eight receiving a prize of 50 euros, ten receiving a prize of 60 euros and ten receiving 80 euros. The first flowered houses rewarded with a prize of 120 euros are two in number (M. and Mme Jean-Paul Gelès and M. and Mme Michel Volkmer). Six others received the second prize of 100 euros (M. and Mme René Destrem, Mme Henriette Larreguy, Mme Patricia Faure, M. Cédric Anetas, Mme Lucie Scribans, and M. and Mme Gabriel Etcheverry).
The mayor thanked all these people for their involvement: “They give a very positive image of the town for the residents, but also for all those who pass through Mouguerre. »
