Going to the operating room is never easy. So just imagine waking up with a body that is no longer yours, or almost. This is what happened to the tiktoker @Dearleslye. “Almost 10 years ago, I had to have chest surgery”she explains in a video. She then had to have her breasts lifted, but her surgeon at the time assured her that if she did not add a small prosthesis to that, she risked no longer having any breasts at all. “It was never my wish to have big breasts”confides Leslye, who appreciates herself as she is. But she nevertheless accepts the cosmetic surgeon's proposal.
When she wakes up from the operation, it's a shock. “I said to myself ‘but what is that?’” She finds her breasts too big and assures that “the surgeon was really happy” on the size of the prostheses. Today, the young woman can no longer tolerate her prostheses and has another operation. “I found a great female surgeon, who understands that I don’t want a big chest”she confides, reassured.
“The surgeon did not respect your request at all, this is unacceptable”says a user in a comment. “It’s not normal that the surgeon imposed his choice on you”confirms another. Unfortunately, Leslye is far from the only one to have been shocked when she woke up after this type of operation. In 2023, Claude-Emmanuelle spoke to Yahoo on this subject. “We come with a particular request, and they believe that their practice is a bit like a signature,” she explained about cosmetic surgeons. “For my chest, I asked for a C cup.” However, the surgeon who takes care of his case directly offers him larger prostheses. “And when I woke up from the procedure, I was a D cup.” Claude-Emmanuelle is in shock. If she finally accepted it, and if she appreciates her breasts today, she continues to think that the surgeon was not fair to her. And she is absolutely right!
Can cosmetic surgeons do whatever they want?
Cosmetic surgeons certainly have the talent to transform our appearance, but that doesn't mean they have carte blanche to do with it what they want! Their role is first of all to understand our expectations and respect our choices, while advising us as best as possible. Before any intervention, a cosmetic surgeon has the duty to ensure that our request is realistic and aligned with our well-being. If he perceives a risk to our health or if our request exceeds the limits of what is natural, he can guide us towards a more reasonable version of our wish. But in the end, it is the patient who has the last word. The patient-surgeon relationship is based on trust and mutual respect, so that each transformation is the one we really want – and above all, that it makes us feel good.
