The Chinese manufacturer Zeekr is launching a new version of its compact electric X. And good news, its price is falling, which could also benefit the European version. This could also be produced on the Old Continent, in order to avoid rising customs duties.
Still little known in France, Zeekr is already present in Europe with its electric cars, including the 001 and the .3 or the Volvo EX30, with which it shares the same platform, among others.
A new version for 2025
If it was officially launched last year, the Chinese manufacturer is already rewarding us witha new versionslightly revised and corrected, which has just been revealed on the official Zeekr website. But then, what are the main developments of this new version, already marketed in China and which should then arrive here? In fact, you should know that they are quite minimal, as explained by the specialized site Car News China.
The latter tells us that the exterior style of the compact is in fact strictly unchanged compared to the version already sold here. We find an easily recognizable front, with its LED lights.t his rather imposing shield. The dimensions are also identical, since the car measures 4.45 meters long for 1.84 meters wide and 1.57 meters high. But in reality, there are still two developments regarding the design of the Zeekr X.
Firstly, there is the arrival of a new black shade in the catalog, as well as 18 inch rims. And that’s it. The rear part doesn’t change one iota either, as does the driving position. Indeed, we find an already well-known presentation, which reminds us a little of what Tesla offers in particular. The difference is that here, the driver has the right to a digital instrument cluster, which is associated with a 14.6 inch touch screen. The latter can slide towards the passenger side, but we do not know if it is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The wheelbase still measures 2.75 meters, while two configurations are available, for four or five passengers. The trunk volume logically does not change and should remain displayed at 362 liters, as we saw in our handling last year. In fact, the developments are more under the hood, since a new LFP (lithium – iron – phosphate) battery appears in the catalog. This last poster a capacity of 49 kWh and helps lower the price of the car.
A falling price
In this configuration, the new Zeekr a power of 268 horsepower sent only to the rear, while 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 5.8 seconds. The manufacturer announces a range of 420 kilometers according to the CLTC cycle, which gives approximately 357 kilometers with WLTP approval. Which remains relatively reasonable, even if we know that French motorists want at least 400 kilometers to be truly reassured. And even if this is not justified in fact.
The rest of the range is unchanged, since customers still have the right to the 66 kWh batterywhich allows you to travel up to 560 kilometers (476 kilometers in the WLTP mixed cycle) on a single charge. Several power levels are offered, namely 271 and 422 horsepower. For the record, the Zeekr But where it becomes interesting is on the price side.
In fact, the compact now starts from 149,900 yuan in its version with its 49 kWh battery. What gives approximately 19,392 euros depending on the exchange rate. A price which, however, risks being revised upwards with the increase in customs duties, which has just been implemented in Europe.
But Zeekr has a secret tip, since it could produce its electric compact on the Old Continent, notably within the Volvo factory in Belgium where the small EX30 will be assembled. Enough to potentially allow the car to also be eligible for the ecological bonus.
