The Archeology Days, led by the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP) with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture, will take place on June 14, 15 and 16 in France and in more than 30 European countries. In Belpech, on Friday June 14, the day will begin at school with CE1-CE2 and CM1-CM2 students in partnership with the media library. On the program, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., introduction to archeology and discovery of the profession of archaeologist, treasure hunt “The King’s Treasure” followed by eight puzzles, and screening of short animated films. The students will be divided into four groups accompanied by teachers and volunteers.

A visit to the exhibition of archaeological objects restored by Matéria Viva this year is organized from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the town hall and under the market hall. The visit to the archaeological exhibition will be followed by the presentation of the Airbnb prize and the signing of the “Heritage and local tourism” convention, all in a medieval atmosphere. Then, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Castelas defense association, a reception and an old-fashioned buffet will be offered to you.

At 9 p.m., in the multigenerational room, conference on the theme “Medieval and modern half-timbered houses from Mirepoix to Belpech, with the contributions of dendrochronology”, by Laurent Girousse, doctoral student in archeology and histories of medieval societies. Open to everyone !
