On November 2, 2024, a regional train caught fire at a station in Germany. Smoke had been reported some time earlier, which allowed the five passengers inside to get out before the carriages burst into flames.

Seven people evacuated from the train

According to our colleagues, the three wagons were on fire when firefighters arrived on scene. According to a fire brigade spokesperson, no more passengers were on board.

A little earlier, the presence of smoke had been reported in the station. A few minutes before the fire, the alarm was given. Station staff ordered the five people on board to leave the machine, accompanied by the driver and a railway agent.

The latter two were treated by emergency services on site, without any injuries being noted. Everyone emerged safely from the incident.

Traffic suspended tonight

Firefighters spent several hours on site, and the last embers were extinguished during the night.

Ahrensfelde station was temporarily closed and replacement buses were deployed to ensure minimal traffic operation. This Sunday morning, the station resumed its activities Normally.

The train did not belong to Germany's leading company, Deutsche Bahn, but to a private company based in Niederbarnim. An investigation was opened to determine the causes of the incident.
