Their profile boosted by their actions in Lebanon and Iran, Israeli officers are seeking a new meaning for their military commitment.

The Israeli general staff says it has brought the country to a crossroads. For several days, the officers have been spreading rumors that their main military objectives – the destruction of Hamas' infrastructure and the castration of Hezbollah – are almost accomplished. Of course, everyone adds that there cannot be «victoire» without the return of the 101 Israeli hostages, dead and alive, still held in Gaza. The military says they are now waiting for orders from their government, and in particular those from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to know which path to take.

A little more than a year after the trauma of the massacre perpetrated by Hamas on October 7, officers unofficially draw up a rather satisfactory military assessment.
