Several settling of scores in recent months
The investigation must still determine whether this event occurred at a point of deal and whether it is linked to drug trafficking or not. Rennes public prosecutor Frédéric Teillet confirmed this death to AFP, “but there is no link with a deal point, at this stage” of the investigation, he said.
According to another police source, the young man was stabbed in the lobby of a building.
This death occurs the day after the visit to Rennes by Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau, who notably visited the working-class district of Maurepas, a hotbed of drug trafficking and the scene of several settling of scores in recent months.
Bruno Retailleau came to the Breton capital a week after a five-year-old child was seriously injured by bullets in the head near Rennes during a settling of scores linked to drug trafficking in the Maurepas district. The boy was still between life and death on Friday, the minister said.
