Everyone probably knows Jumanji: this cult saga born in the 90s has survived the ages to come back very strong in the 2010s. A brand new feature film will soon be available on the big screen.

Greenbacks in the jungle

In 1995, Jumanji very quickly established itself as a cult film thanks to its original plot, carried by the great Robin Williams: years later, in 2017, a sequel was released by modernizing the concept, the board game becoming a video game and taking at its center new heroes and heroines. Jumani: Welcome to the Jungle also liked to offer a star cast with Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillian: a successful bet since we are still talking about 800 million dollars at the box office.

As for its sequel, Jumani: Next Level, released in 2022, the same story with the return of the quartet and a resplendent commercial result, even beating the previous film with a score of $801 million. For comparison (even though the time was very different and the Jumanji “brand” was just getting started), the 1995 Jumanji grossed $264 million.

On the way to Jumanji 4

Obviously, we had to expect that a brand new cinematographic project would see the light of day: Sony has just confirmed the release date of Jumanji 4, set for December 9, 2026. Obviously, Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillian will reprise their respective roles.

Filming will begin in 2025 and will then conclude this new trilogy. We don't yet know what the film will be about, but everything seems to point to the fact that the plot will take place in the real world, with the escape of the creatures and characters from Jumanji, much like in the original film. In any case, that’s what the very end of Jumanji Next Level seemed to promise…
