A fire broke out in Crastes this Friday, November 1, mobilizing around forty firefighters. A 1,200 m2 agricultural shed went up in smoke. Despite the risks due to the conflagration of phytosanitary products, no pollution was reported and the fire caused no casualties.

A telehandler caught fire before the flames spread. This Friday 1is November, at the end of the afternoon, not far from around forty firefighters from Castéra-Verduzan or were mobilized on the Crastes farm, at a place called “Mons”. In total, 1,200 m² of an agricultural shed went up in smoke. Although the circumstances of this fire remain unknown, significant emergency resources were still deployed.

At the origin of the fire, the flames, having reached the workshop in the center of the hangar, spread towards the reserve of liquid phytosanitary products. Gas cylinders as well as acetylene, a highly flammable hydrocarbon, were also stored in the hangar. This situation also required the intervention of the specialized fire brigade team in technological risks.

A team of firefighters specializing in chemical risks was on site.

The intervention made it possible to prevent a grain silo and a fuel oil tank from catching fire. After extinguishing by flooding, analyzes of the water used were carried out. The analyzes ruled out any risk of pollution linked to phytosanitary products. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
